Poets&Quants Ranks UC Davis Full-Time MBA in Top 20 among Public Programs
Mash up of Financial Times, U.S. News, Bloomberg, LinkedIn and Princeton Review
(Davis, CA) — The UC Davis Full-Time MBA moved up 11 spots into the top 50 U.S. programs overall, and 20th among public institutions, in Poets&Quants' annual rankings of the top 100 MBA programs in the U.S.
The Poets&Quants 2023-2024 MBA ranking combines the most influential business school rankings in the world: U.S. News & World Report, The Financial Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, and for the first time LinkedIn‘s debut MBA ranking and Princeton Review‘s annual list of the best. The latter two rankings were added after the decision by The Economist and Forbes to abandon their MBA ranking projects.
Overall, the UC Davis Full-Time MBA ranks 45th, up from 56th last year. Among full-time MBA programs at public universities, UC Davis now ranks 20th in the U.S.
The 14th annual Poets&Quants ranking follows the September release of the Bloomberg Businessweek Best B-Schools ratings in which the UC Davis Full-Time MBA also ranked in the top 20 among programs at public universities—as well as 13th for student diversity.
Five-in-One MBA Rankings Methodology
"The annual Poets&Quants’ MBA ranking takes five most credible lists from U.S. News, The Financial Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, LinkedIn and the Princeton Review and combines them together using weights based on the soundness of each publication’s methodology," according to Poets&Quants.
"This year’s 2023-2024 list gives a 35% weight to the U.S. News ranking, a 30% weight to The Financial Times, a 15% weight to Bloomberg Businessweek, and 10% each to LinkedIn and Princeton Review."
In truth, none of these rankings capture the true essence of the academic experience delivered in an MBA program. A school’s ups and downs may have more to do with the career choices of its graduates than it is a reflection of the caliber of an MBA program.
