UC Davis Business Economics Cluster
UC Davis offers three main paths for those interested in the broader field of business: Business, Economics, and Managerial Economics. These three STEM-designated majors comprise the Business Economics Cluster, a partnership between the Graduate School of Management, the College of Letters and Science and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

DESCRIPTIONS |
The Bachelor of Arts in Economics is a STEM-designated degree that prepares students for a wide variety of careers. Combining social science with aspects of business the degree examines decisionmaking at the individual, business, market, and global level. Students gain skills in microeconomic, macroeconomic, and econometric analysis allowing them to develop critical thinking skills for the challenges of the global economy. Versatility of the degree allows students to prepare for careers in for-profit, non-profit, and governmental organizations. The major provides substantial flexibility with relatively low credit hour requirements allowing students to pursue and develop additional skills including the ability to double major. For example students might double major in mathematics for finance careers, political science for policy or law careers, and statistics for data analytics careers. In sum the economics degree equips students with adaptable skills for an ever-changing competitive economy. |
The Bachelor of Science in Business prepares students for analytical and data-driven careers in the business world. With a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and economics, graduates are equipped to solve complex problems and make informed decisions. Elective specializations in accounting, finance, marketing & business analytics, and management & strategy allow students to tailor their studies to specific career paths. This program develops critical thinking, quantitative, and strategic skills, positioning graduates for roles in fields such as consulting, financial analysis, data analytics, marketing strategy, and business operations. | The Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics at UC Davis is a STEM-designated major combining strong preparation in microeconomic analysis and quantitative methods with systematic exposure to real-world decision and policy problems to meet the managerial and leadership needs of businesses and governments. It prepares students for the analysis of management and policy issues in business, finance, marketing, production, agriculture, food distribution, natural resources, the environment, and international trade and development. Students build up skills in the areas of economic modeling, data analysis, and programming, specialize in one or more emphases, and have the opportunity to engage in research and interact with faculty advisors through the Managerial Economics Senior Research Thesis program. |
